Inside Al-Ameen

Al-Ameen College, formerly known as Langford Islamic College, opened in Langford in 2004 to provide a high-quality secular and Islamic education in an Islamic environment. The school has grown steadily since then, and as of 2023 serves around 1,120 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

In 2021, the college changed its name from Langford Islamic College to Al-Ameen College, in preparation for opening a second campus outside of Langford. Construction of a Malaga campus has been under way since the rename, and the new campus is set to open in February 2026. The same school identity will operate across both sites.

Al-Ameen offers the full WACE pathway plus VET certificates in Years 11 and 12. The majority of senior students are on an ATAR pathway, with subject offerings designed to cover university prerequisites for the most common destinations, Curtin, UWA, and ECU.

What Al-Ameen is known for

Established Langford community

Twenty years in Langford has built a deep school community that anchors the Muslim families of the south-east Perth corridor. The community connection is a meaningful part of the school's identity.

WACE + VET pathway breadth

Senior students can pursue ATAR courses for university entry or VET certificates for direct workforce or TAFE pathways. The flexibility is genuine.

Expansion to Malaga

The 2026 Malaga campus opening will give Al-Ameen a presence in northern Perth and significantly expand the school's reach. For families further north, this is a meaningful new option.

Islamic studies integrated

Islamic studies, Arabic, and Islamic ethos are core to the curriculum, alongside the standard WA curriculum. The integration is the school's distinctive value.

Things to consider

Al-Ameen isn't the right fit for every student. Here are the genuine tradeoffs to think through, drawn from publicly available information about the school.

Smaller senior school than AIC

Al-Ameen's senior cohort is smaller than Australian Islamic College's. That can mean a smaller suite of ATAR subjects and a smaller peer group at the top end. Worth checking subject availability for your specific Year 12 plan.

Islamic curriculum is core

For non-Muslim families, Al-Ameen may not be the right fit; for Muslim families, the integration is often the main reason for choosing the school.

Newer school, smaller alumni network

Compared to long-running independents, Al-Ameen's alumni community is small. The career-network value is less than at older schools.

Two campuses from 2026

From February 2026, Al-Ameen will operate two sites. Quality and resourcing at the new Malaga campus will need time to mature.

The ATAR pathway at Al-Ameen

Al-Ameen students take WACE ATAR pathways. Most common: Pre-medicine (Methods + Chemistry + Human Bio + English, with UCAT externally), Engineering / IT (Methods + Physics + Chemistry + English), Health sciences (Methods or Apps + Chemistry + Human Bio + Psychology), and Commerce / business (Methods + Economics + English + a humanity).

Curtin University and UWA are the dominant tertiary destinations, with ECU also common for nursing and education pathways.

"Al-Ameen Methods is solid but I needed extra past-paper work. Educatta tutor walked me through every Section 2 question style until I could anticipate them."
