01Purpose & values
This Code of Conduct sets out the values, expected behaviour, and ethical obligations of every Educatta employee, tutor, contractor, volunteer, student, and parent in our centres and online classes.
Educatta conducts its business honestly and ethically. We expect every team member and family in our community to act with respect, fairness, integrity, and care for the children and young people who learn with us. This Code is read together with our Terms & Conditions and our Child Safe Policy.
02Attendance & punctuality
Classes start on the hour. We expect students to arrive five minutes early so they can settle in, get materials ready, and be learning from minute one. Tutors do the same.
If a student is going to miss a class, parents or the student should let us know by email or text at least an hour before the class. We don't charge for missed classes when given reasonable notice, but we reserve the right to count repeated unexplained absences against the money-back guarantee.
If we have to cancel a class (tutor illness, public-holiday timing, or anything else) we'll either reschedule for the same week or credit it against the next term.
Tutors who can no longer continue scheduled classes must give Educatta no less than twenty-eight (28) days written notice. For unforeseen one-off absences, notify Educatta at the earliest possible opportunity so we can arrange cover.
03Respect & behaviour
Educatta classrooms are small, focused, and friendly. Everyone treats everyone else with respect. We have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or any other form of discrimination.
Students who repeatedly disrupt classes, bully others, or behave dangerously will be spoken to, then warned, then asked to leave. Unused weeks of term will be refunded in that situation.
04Phones, devices & AI
Phones go face-down on the desk during class, or away in bags entirely. Laptops and tablets are welcome for note-taking but should run only subject-relevant apps during class.
Tutors will not use generative AI to do a student's school work, complete an assessment, or produce content presented to a student or parent as the tutor's original work. Where AI is used as a teaching aid, the tutor remains responsible for accuracy. We never input student personal information or Educatta confidential material into third-party AI services.
05Online classes
Online tutoring is a more closed environment than in-person classes, so we add safeguards. Tutors and students join from public areas of their home where a guardian or housemate can hear; cameras and microphones stay on for tutors throughout the lesson; classes are delivered through Educatta's nominated platform only; and recording is not permitted without prior written authorisation. Tutors do not contact students through any private channel outside Educatta's approved platform.
06Child safety & safeguarding
Educatta has zero tolerance for child abuse, child harm, and neglect. Every tutor holds a current and unexpired Working with Children Check (WWCC) before any contact with students, completes our in-person child-safe induction, and complies with our Child Safe Policy at all times.
Centre rooms have glass doors or visible windows so classes can be observed from outside the room. Tutors do not enclose themselves in a room alone with a single student. Educatta does not offer in-home tutoring, all teaching happens at our centres or via our approved online platform.
Tutors do not connect with current students on personal social media, do not exchange personal contact details with a student outside our approved channels, and do not photograph or record any student without prior written consent from the parent or guardian and Educatta.
If you have a concern about a tutor, staff member, or another student's behaviour, email learn@educatta.com or call (08) 6157 1525. If a child is in immediate danger, call 000. We act on every concern in accordance with the Child Safe Policy.
07Prohibited behaviour
The following are strictly prohibited for any tutor or staff member:
- Any sexual contact, sexual relationship, or conduct of a sexual nature with a child or young person.
- Inappropriate physical contact, language, or discipline that humiliates, isolates, or frightens a student.
- Exchanging personal contact details with a student outside Educatta's approved channels.
- Unauthorised contact with a student or family outside the delivery of Services, including on social media.
- Using Educatta's customer list or position for personal or competing business interests.
- Giving or accepting bribes or improper inducements; gifts above a nominal value (suggested AUD 50) must be disclosed.
- Using, possessing, or being under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs at any centre or while delivering any service.
- Discussing personal, political, religious, sexual, or other inappropriate topics with students or parents.
08Academic honesty
Educatta workbooks, mock papers, marking schemes, and study guides are for personal use only. Sharing them publicly, uploading to study-sharing sites, selling them, or posting answer keys is a breach of these terms and unfair to other students. See our Terms & Conditions for the IP details.
Tutors never write school assessments or assignments for students. We help students understand the underlying concepts and rehearse the type of question, but the work they hand in is their own. If a tutor suspects a student is asking for direct help on a school test, they redirect to past papers and conceptual practice.
09Parent communication
You'll receive a structured parent report at the end of each term. In between, your tutor, learning advisor, and centre director are available by email (we reply within one business day) and phone during centre hours. Parents are welcome to drop in any time.
We don't share student academic information with anyone other than the enrolling parent or guardian without written consent.
10Tutor conduct & supervision
Tutors are casual employees of Educatta. Each tutor signs the Tutor Employment Terms & Conditions and this Code of Conduct before commencing. They complete in-person training, are subject to active classroom monitoring, and participate in ongoing professional development as part of our quality-assurance program.
Tutors maintain a professional rapport with students and parents, warm and supportive, never crossing into personal "friendship" that blurs professional boundaries.
All payments for classes flow through Educatta's approved payment systems. Tutors never collect or solicit direct payment from a customer.
11Work health & safety
Every team member complies with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and Educatta's WHS procedures. Hazards, incidents, and near-misses are reported to the supervisor as soon as reasonably practicable.
Educatta carries public liability insurance covering centres, online classes, and staff in the course of their employment, and workers' compensation insurance under the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 (WA) for all employees, including casual tutors.
12Discrimination & harassment
No employee, tutor, student, or parent may harass or discriminate against any person on the grounds of sex, pregnancy, marital or relationship status, age, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or religious background, physical or intellectual impairment, sexuality, gender identity, or any other protected attribute under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) or applicable Commonwealth anti-discrimination law.
Sexual harassment, racial vilification, and bullying are unlawful and will not be tolerated. Educatta has a positive duty under the Sex Discrimination Act to take reasonable measures to eliminate sex discrimination and sexual harassment.
13Complaints & grievances
Complaints go to the centre director or learning advisor first, in person, by email, or phone. If they can't resolve it within seven days, or if the complaint involves the centre director, escalate to the COO or CEO directly at learn@educatta.com. We acknowledge every complaint within two business days and keep a written record of every complaint and resolution.
For unresolved matters, you may take the complaint to an external body, the Department of Communities (for child safety), the Equal Opportunity Commission of Western Australia (for discrimination), the Fair Work Commission (for employment matters), or the police where appropriate.
14Reporting concerns
Educatta supports and protects any person who reports suspected misconduct, child harm, or breach of this Code in good faith. A person making such a report will not be subject to detriment, retaliation, or adverse action because of it.
