WHY EDUCATTA

Tutoring, but not soul-crushing.

We've built the kind of tutor role we wished existed when we were starting out. The four things tutors tell us matter most:

Small group class at Educatta

Max 10 students per class

Small enough that you actually know each student, what they're stuck on, and what they aced last week.

Senior tutors mentoring

Senior tutors in your corner

Adam, Jude, Tarek and Zac observe your first classes, drop in for live coaching, and are always a message away.

Educatta workbooks and resources

The curriculum is already done

Workbooks, problem sets and exam-style questions, all written and tested. You teach, we handle the prep stack.

Educatta expert tutors

Teach what you actually know

Stick to the 1 or 2 subjects you actually love. We never ask Methods tutors to fill in for Bio because someone's sick.

REQUIREMENTS

Who we're looking for.

We want subject mastery and warmth in equal measure. The bar isn't low, but it's not unreachable either.

Must have
  • Currently studying at uni, or recent grad (we love undergrads in their field)
  • Naturally extroverted: you draw energy from a room of teenagers and leave them lifted, not lectured
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to apply for one before your first class
  • Available for at least one weekly 2-hour class block
  • Commits to seeing out the calendar year you join, so students keep the same tutor
  • Strong written and verbal English, since you'll be explaining hard ideas in real time
  • Based in Perth (for in-person centres) or anywhere in WA (for online)
Nice to have
  • Previous tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience (peer tutoring counts)
  • You went through WACE recently (bonus if you remember the exam pain)
  • Confidence with two of our six subjects (more shifts available)
  • Comfortable on Google Meet for online classes (we'll train you on our setup either way)
  • You want to do this for more than a year
WHAT YOU GET

Pay, perks, & the rest of it.

💰

$33–88/hour, paid weekly

Banded by experience and subject scarcity. Methods, Physics and Chem tutors trend higher. Pay lands in your account every Monday.

Workbooks that do the prep for you

Our booklets are so clear and well-laid-out that prep barely exists. Read the chapter the night before, walk into class, teach. No slides to make, no plan to write.

🍽️

A crew, not a roster

Termly tutor dinners, social activities and meet-ups so you actually know the people you work with. The team is a big part of why most tutors stay.

📖

Workbooks & iPad supplied

Every chapter, every problem set, every exam-style question. Already written, already tested, already loaded onto an iPad we hand you for class.

🧠

Coaching when you need it

Adam, Jude and Zac are constantly available between classes, and drop into your lessons for live coaching whenever you want fresh eyes on your teaching.

A space you'll love teaching from

Both centres are warm, quiet and beautifully set up. Coffee, snacks, fast wifi, fresh whiteboards, the lot. Just turn up and teach.

★★★★★
"The training before my first class was unreal. By the time I walked into the room I'd shadowed two classes, done a mock with Adam and Zac, and rehearsed the first chapter. Zero stress on day one."

"The workbook system is the difference. I used to spend Sundays building slides; now I show up, teach the chapter, and leave. Zac and Jude trained me in my first term and gave the best PD I've ever had."

"I know exactly what I'm teaching every Monday morning. Same workbook chapter, same flow, same expectations. There's no scrambling at 11pm trying to figure out tomorrow's class."

"Jude and Zac observed my first three classes and gave specific, actionable feedback. By week 4 I felt like I'd been doing this for years. Real mentorship, not LinkedIn buzzwords."

"I tutor online from regional WA. The setup just works. Small classes, good kids, real conversations. I've stayed because the team genuinely cares about the tutors, not just the marketing of caring."

"Two hours teaching, the workbook chapter is set, your students are sorted in advance. The job is the job. No surprise meetings, no scope creep, no random asks."

"They actually let me teach Methods AND Chemistry because I know both cold. No 'fill in for Physics because someone's sick' nonsense. You stay in your lane and the kids notice."

It's rewarding to support students in building confidence and understanding, and to see their progress over time. QUESTIONS

Tutor FAQs.

I just finished Year 12 last year. Am I too junior?
No, recent grads are some of our strongest tutors because the WACE exam pain is fresh. About a third of our team are in their 1st or 2nd year of uni. The bar is your subject mastery, not your years on the planet.
How many hours can I expect each term?
New tutors usually start with one class (2 hours teaching + 30 min paid prep = 2.5 paid hours/week). After your first term and good feedback, you can take a second class. Senior tutors run 6–8 hours a week alongside their studies.
Do I need teaching experience?
No formal teaching experience required. We hire on subject mastery and the ability to explain things clearly. The mock lesson is where we test that. We'll train you on the rest: pacing, classroom management, the workbook system.
Can I teach online only?
Yes. Roughly a quarter of our tutors are online-only. We'll train you on our Google Meet setup and digital whiteboard. You can be based anywhere in WA for online classes. Many of our online tutors are recent Perth-school grads now studying at WA universities or living regionally.
What's the contract: casual or part-time?
Casual contract under the Educational Services (Teachers) Award. You get paid weekly. You're not locked in for the year. We plan term-by-term so you can flex around exam periods, placements, or trips.
What if my mock lesson doesn't go well?
We give you specific written feedback either way. If we don't progress to an offer, you're welcome to reapply after a term. Most reapplicants get offered a role second time round once they've thought about the feedback.
Can I tutor in subjects you don't list yet?
Right now we only run the 6 ATAR subjects on the homepage. We're considering Specialist Maths and Psychology for 2027, so feel free to mention either in your application if that's your strength.
