What you'll actually learn.

Human Biology ATAR is content-dense but concept-light. The skill isn't understanding. It's organising and recalling under exam pressure. We give you the mental structure to make it stick the first time.

Beyond the weekly class, every Educatta Human Biology student is paired with a dedicated learning advisor: a senior tutor or centre director who builds a personalised study plan around your school's pace, your goals, and your upcoming tests, then stays on call via group chat to adjust the plan and prep you for each assessment. Included in every package, no extra fee.

Unit 1
The functioning human body
Cells, tissues, systems, and how they cooperate.
Cells, tissues & organisation
Cell structure, specialisation, tissue types, and levels of biological organisation.
Respiration & circulation
Gas exchange, blood components, cardiac cycle, and transport of nutrients.
Digestion & excretion
Digestive tract structure and enzymes, urinary system and nephron function.
Musculoskeletal system
Bones, joints, muscles, antagonistic pairs and movement.
Assessment: Investigation (practical), test, short response.
Unit 2
Reproduction & inheritance
From gamete to genotype.
Reproductive systems
Male and female anatomy, hormonal control of the menstrual cycle, fertilisation.
Meiosis & gametes
Stages of meiosis, crossing over, independent assortment, genetic variation.

Embryonic development
Fertilisation, implantation, stages of pregnancy, and birth.
Assessment: Investigation, test, and cumulative Year 11 exam.
Unit 3
Homeostasis & disease
ATAR-scored. Regulation, feedback, and the immune response.

Assessment: 50% school-assessed (investigations, tests). Mid-year exam.
Unit 4
Variation & human evolution
Where biology meets anthropology, and the external exam looms.
DNA, genes & mutation
DNA structure and replication, transcription and translation, types of mutation.
Natural selection & evidence
Variation, selection pressures, and evidence from fossils, biogeography, molecular biology.
Human evolution

Questions we hear a lot

Human Biology FAQs.

Is Human Bio a 'memorise-a-textbook' subject?
It's content-heavy, yes, but smart structure beats rote memorisation every time. We build flashcard decks, mind maps, and active-recall protocols from week 1 so the exam prep isn't a 2-week panic.
Which pathway is Human Bio best for?
Nursing, medical science, physiotherapy, dentistry, and psychology all weight it. Paired with Chemistry, it's a strong pre-Med combo.
What about Biology vs Human Bio?
Human Biology is more applied. It's specifically about the human body and its systems. General Biology covers ecosystems, botany and wider animal bio. Students often take Human Bio because it's more relevant to clinical pathways.
Do you cover practicals?
Yes, including microscope techniques, dissection write-ups, and data analysis. Many students have never done a formal lab write-up. We teach the exam-expected structure in term 1.
Is the evolution/hominin content examined heavily?
Yes. It reliably appears in the external exam's extended response section. We prep specific templates and example answers, and it's usually a mark-grabber if you've practised.
Do I get one-on-one support outside of class?
Yes. Every Educatta student is paired with a dedicated learning advisor: a senior tutor or centre director. They run a one-on-one planning session at the start of each term to build your custom study plan, then stay on call via group chat for the rest of the term, adjusting the plan, prepping you for upcoming tests, and answering questions between classes. Included in every package, no extra fee.

Real students, real marks

What our Human Biology students say.

Every quote is from a current or recent Educatta student. Names and schools shared with permission.

★★★★★
"I came in mid-Unit 3 terrified of homeostasis. The way feedback loops got taught, with diagrams we redrew until they stuck, just fixed it. Final raw 92."
Priya K.Year 12 · Bentley
+25 marks
★★★★★
"Human Bio gets dismissed as memory work. It's not, it's about understanding mechanisms. My tutor showed me how to write answers examiners actually like."
Lachlan G.Year 12 · Aquinas College
+28 marks
★★★★★
"Eight weeks here and I went from middle-of-the-class in Bio to top decile. Past-paper marking is what did it."
Zoe M.Year 12 · Penrhos College
+23 marks
★★★★★
"The immune response chains used to spin me out. The tutor's flow chart approach made cellular vs humoral memorable. From 60 to 90 by mocks."
Mason H.Year 12 · Christ Church Grammar
+30 marks
★★★★★
"DNA, transcription, translation, all blurry at school. Educatta did it in one lesson with diagrams, then made me draw them weekly. Got 100% on the unit 4 test."
Aanya P.Year 12 · MLC
+26 marks
★★★★★
"Hominin evolution dates and species kept blurring together. The tutor built a timeline poster I memorised. Examiner-pleasing answers in unit 4 essays."
Tom S.Year 12 · Hale School
+22 marks
★★★★★
"I joined in Term 2 on a 58. Final WACE exam was 91. The diagrams-from-memory technique they teach is gold. Cannot recommend enough."
Charlotte D.Year 12 · Trinity College
+33 marks
★★★★★
"The natural selection unit clicked here. The tutor used real examples (peppered moths, sickle cell, lactose tolerance) and the principles stuck. Topic test went from 70 to 94."
Henry F.Year 12 · Wesley College
+24 marks
★★★★★
"Educatta pushed me through the volume of content with weekly active recall. By exam day, 18 weeks of content felt manageable, not overwhelming."
Sienna B.Year 12 · Penrhos College
+27 marks
★★★★★
"Biotechnology and PCR were where most of my class lost marks. Three lessons here and I was nailing the diagrams. Final raw was 89."
Daniel J.Year 12 · Aquinas College
