Physics ATAR Tutoring
in Perth for Yr 11 & 12

The laws of the universe aren't that complicated. The way they're taught usually is. We fix that.

What you'll actually learn.

Physics ATAR is secretly a problem-solving course wearing a science costume. We teach the Big 4 (free body diagrams, conservation laws, graphs, and units) and everything else collapses into them.

Beyond the weekly class, every Educatta Physics student is paired with a dedicated learning advisor: a senior tutor or centre director who builds a personalised study plan around your school's pace, your goals, and your upcoming tests, then stays on call via group chat to adjust the plan and prep you for each assessment. Included in every package, no extra fee.

Unit 1
Thermal, nuclear & electrical physics
The micro-scale foundations: energy, particles, and charge.
Heat & temperature
Specific heat, latent heat, heat transfer, conservation of energy in thermal systems.
Nuclear physics
Radioactivity, half-life, binding energy, fission and fusion.
Electric circuits
Ohm's law, series and parallel circuits, power dissipation, internal resistance.
Assessment: Practical investigation (circuits or calorimetry), test, short response.
Unit 2
Linear motion & waves
Where classical mechanics enters, and waves tie everything together.
Kinematics & dynamics
Displacement, velocity, acceleration; vector analysis; projectile motion.
Forces & Newton's laws
Free body diagrams, friction, tension, equilibrium and connected bodies.
Waves
Transverse and longitudinal waves, superposition, standing waves, sound, and the wave model of light.
Assessment: Practical investigation, test, and cumulative Year 11 exam.
Unit 3
Gravity & electromagnetism
ATAR-scored. Fields, field lines, and everything they do.
Gravitational fields & motion
Universal gravitation, orbital motion, gravitational potential energy, Kepler's laws.
Electric & magnetic fields
Electric field strength, Coulomb's law, magnetic force on a current, on a charge.
Electromagnetic induction
Faraday's and Lenz's laws, transformers, motors and generators.
Assessment: 50% school-assessed (practicals, tests, investigation). Mid-year exam.
Unit 4
Revolutions in modern physics
Special relativity, quantum theory, and the Standard Model. Surprisingly manageable with the right framing.
Special relativity
Postulates, time dilation, length contraction, mass-energy equivalence (E=mc²).
Quantum theory
Photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality, atomic spectra, the Bohr model.
The Standard Model
Subatomic particles, quarks, leptons, fundamental forces, and conservation laws.
Assessment: External exam, 3 hours, includes a short-answer and extended-response section.

We schedule classes so paired subjects land in the same week, concepts reinforce each other instead of competing for study time.

Questions we hear a lot

Physics FAQs.

I can do the maths, but I can't visualise the physics. Help?
That's the most common issue we see. Physics is a diagramming subject. We teach specific sketching habits (free-body diagrams, vector triangles, field lines) until they become reflex. That's where 'the lightbulb' comes from.
Do I need Methods to do Physics?
Officially no, but practically yes for Year 12. Unit 3 gets much easier with Methods running alongside (trigonometry, rates of change, exponentials). Applications students can cope if they're willing to do extra algebra in term 1.
How many past papers should I do?
By the time we're done, every Educatta Physics student has done every WACE paper since 2019, twice. Physics rewards pattern recognition under timed conditions more than almost any other subject.
Is the relativity/quantum content harder than the rest?
No, just different. The maths is gentler but the concepts feel counter-intuitive at first. We use analogies and demonstrations that stick, and the exam questions are actually quite structured.
What if my school doesn't do many practicals?
We cover every mandatory investigation, including write-up structure and error analysis, in class. Many of our students end up tutoring their classmates on practicals.
Do I get one-on-one support outside of class?
Yes. Every Educatta student is paired with a dedicated learning advisor: a senior tutor or centre director. They run a one-on-one planning session at the start of each term to build your custom study plan, then stay on call via group chat for the rest of the term, adjusting the plan, prepping you for upcoming tests, and answering questions between classes. Included in every package, no extra fee.

What our Physics students say.

Every quote is from a current or recent Educatta student. Names and schools shared with permission.

★★★★★
"Physics is half formula, half problem-spotting. Educatta drilled both. By the September papers I was finishing with 15 minutes spare. Final raw was 92."
Adam K.Year 12 · Hale School
+27 marks
★★★★★
"I thought I was bad at physics. Turns out I was bad at force diagrams. Three weeks fixing that and the topic test marks took off. From 60s to 92."
Mia C.Year 12 · Willetton SHS
+30 marks
★★★★★
"Electromagnetism is where most of us drop marks. Educatta nailed it with a worksheet they wrote themselves. Completely changed how I solve those problems."
Daniel R.Year 12 · Bentley
+26 marks
★★★★★
"The graviton chapter and gravitational fields broke me. Two weeks of focused practice here and I was getting 9/10 on those questions consistently."
Olivia S.Year 12 · Aquinas College
+22 marks
★★★★★
"I was a 60-student at start of Year 12. Educatta carried me to 93 raw by the WACE exam. The unit 4 drills on modern physics were the breakthrough."
Lachlan T.Year 12 · Christ Church Grammar
+33 marks
★★★★★
"The class size means the tutor knows when you're confused before you realise. That alone is worth the price. Marks moved 24 points by mocks."
Charlotte W.Year 12 · Penrhos College
+24 marks
★★★★★
"I could do the maths but couldn't do the physics. Educatta showed me how to set up problems before grinding numbers. Average jumped from 70 to 88."
Henry P.Year 12 · Wesley College
+28 marks
★★★★★
"Wave optics and interference were my weak spot. The tutor drew the wavefronts a different way and suddenly I could solve every question. Game over."
Aanya R.Year 12 · MLC
+25 marks
★★★★★
"The unit 3 motion section is where I built my foundation. Once I got projectile motion right, the rest of the syllabus felt manageable. From 65 to 96."
Marcus J.Year 12 · St Mary's
+31 marks
★★★★★
"The mistakes I was making weren't physics mistakes, they were unit-conversion mistakes. The tutor caught it in lesson 1. Three lessons later, 91 on the topic test."
Sienna L.Year 12 · Trinity College
