Inside Canning Vale College
Canning Vale College opened in February 2004 as a new public secondary school in the rapidly-growing Canning Vale suburb of Perth. Initial enrolments were restricted to Years 8 and 9, with enrolments expanding progressively in the following years, Year 10 added in 2005, Year 11 in 2006, and Year 12 in 2007. Initial construction cost A$15 million for the business centre, two-level middle school building, arts centre, and library.
The school became an Independent Public School in 2015, joining the WA Department of Education's IPS program that gives certain public schools more autonomy over staffing, programs, and budgets within the public-school framework. The IPS designation has supported steady expansion of program quality.
As of 31 December 2024, Canning Vale College had 1,333 enrolled students across Years 7 to 12, serving the Canning Vale, Southern River, and Harrisdale catchments. The school provides a comprehensive secondary curriculum aligned with WA Department of Education standards, leading to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
