Inside Carey
Carey Baptist College was established in 1998 by Carey Baptist Church as a Christian K-12 education option in Perth's south-east corridor. The college takes its name from William Carey, the British Baptist missionary often called the 'father of modern missions', who established the Baptist Missionary Society in 1792.
Carey now operates two campuses: the original Harrisdale campus, which has grown to more than 1,500 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, and a Forrestdale campus serving the rapidly-growing south-eastern suburbs. The college has expanded steadily as the Harrisdale, Piara Waters, and Forrestdale catchments have grown.
Academically, Carey punches above its weight. Approximately 50% of Carey's ATAR students rank in the top 20% of ATAR students in Australia annually, and a high percentage of Carey ATAR graduates are offered places in their first preference course. The school maintains both an ATAR pathway for university entry and a vocational (VET) pathway for direct workforce or TAFE entry.
