Educatta 97+ ATAR Study Skills workshop in session

Inside the masterclass

Many students are told to "study harder" during ATAR, but very few are actually taught how to study effectively. Students need the correct systems, habits and study methods to get through ATAR successfully. This masterclass breaks down the practical strategies used by high-achieving ATAR students, helping them study more effectively, stay consistent and avoid burnout throughout Years 11 and 12.

📝 Creating effective notes

What good ATAR notes actually look like, and the difference between notes that help you remember and notes that just look pretty.

🧠 Improving memory retention

How memory works under exam conditions and the techniques top students use to keep content locked in across the year.

⚡ Passive vs active study

Why most students spend hours "studying" with very little to show for it, and how to switch to methods that actually move marks.

📂 Accessing and making your own resources

Where to find good past papers, marker reports and worked examples, and when to make your own resources instead.

📅 Timetables and organisation

A weekly timetable template that high-achieving students actually follow, including where to put rest, school work and revision.

⏰ Overcoming procrastination

The behavioural techniques that work for ATAR-aged students, so studying gets started without a 30-minute warm-up of scrolling.

⚖️ Balancing study with other commitments

How to fit in sport, work, family and a social life without losing the academic edge.

🚫 The biggest mistakes to avoid

The recurring study mistakes that cost most students serious marks, and exactly how to fix each one.

Common questions

Everything parents and students typically ask about this masterclass.

My child studies a lot already. Will this still help?
Often it helps these students the most. Study Skills isn’t about studying harder, it’s about studying differently. Active recall, spaced practice and effective notes are the techniques that move marks once raw effort has plateaued.
Is this just generic study advice?
No. Every example is built around WACE subjects, WACE exam structures and the way SCSA actually marks. The strategies are what we used to score 97+ ourselves, not what we read in a textbook.
How long is the masterclass?
60 minutes of teaching plus an open Q&A at the end. Booklet handouts are given out at the start so students can follow along without taking notes the whole time.
Who runs the masterclass?
Educatta’s 97+ ATAR graduates, the same team that built the curriculum. Most sessions are co-presented by two of our co-founders so students hear different perspectives in the same hour.
Do I have to attend the other masterclasses too?
No. Each masterclass in The 97+ ATAR Roadmap stands on its own. Pick whichever ones look useful and skip the rest, like a menu.
Are parents welcome?
Yes. Parents make up a real chunk of the audience at most sessions, especially Foundations and Subject Selection. The booklet is written so parents and students can both follow along.
Can my school host this masterclass?
Yes. We run all five Roadmap masterclasses inside Perth high schools at no cost to the school. Scroll to the For schools section on the events page or call us on (08) 6157 1525 to plan a date.
